Hey hey, we just WON our first STUDENT LOAN DISCHARGE case! Approximately 33K in student loans were dragging down a single mom who works two jobs to make ends meet. First we got rid of $20,000 in regular debt, and then we sued the government to discharge the student loans, and we WON! She was a great plaintiff because 1. She graduated; 2. She always tried to pay on the loans, and when she could not, she deferred and/or entered into income-based repayment option (she never went MIA); 3. She was making as much as she could to support her family and still had nothing left over to pay these loans; 4. Her situation was not going to change any time soon.
Many thanks to the Assistant US Attorney in our District who is whip smart, usually holds all the cards, and is still always wonderful to work with.
