Just got back from living a childhood dream—with a few unexpected plot twists.
Grand Teton and Yellowstone have been at the top of my list since I was 10 years old. After a work sprint locking down deals for my clients, my parents, sister, and I packed the car and drove through 5 states to make it happen.
It was an incredible trip, but it came with a few wild cards:
The Grizzly: Spotted a wild grizzly from 200 yards away (and, in the excitement, we somehow decided it was a good idea to get out of the car for a closer view!).
The ER: Made a midnight detour to a remote Montana ER for my bug bite gone wrong. (Don't worry, I was back on the trail the next day!).
As an attorney who specializes in risk and preparation, this trip perfectly validated how I approach protecting my clients.
Companies spend all their time scanning the horizon for the "Grizzlies" (the massive lawsuits, the giant competitors). But it’s my job to catch the "Bug Bites" (the tiny, overlooked clause in an old contract, a minor compliance slip) before they turn into an emergency that keeps you up past midnight.
You can plan for decades, but your legal infrastructure still has to be nimble enough to handle the unexpected.
To the founders and business owners in my network: What unexpected curveballs did Q2 throw at you, and how did your infrastructure handle them?
