BIG NEWS IN THE SPACE INDUSTRY! A newly introduced bipartisan bill, The Space Infrastructure Act, will designate space systems, services and technology as a sector of critical infrastructure.

“Space is infrastructure. So many things we rely on, such as navigation systems, banking, and communications systems, function with the help of technology in space. Designating space as a critical infrastructure sector will help ensure the industry receives the attention and resources it needs, thereby strengthening our national security.” Reps. Ted Lieu (D-Calif.)

The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) provides Climate Change Mitigation Pilot Program https://www.uspto.gov/patents/laws/patent-related-notices/climate-change-mitigation-pilot-program that provides a “fast track” for obtaining patents on innovations that advance progress toward achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions. Included innovations will be those designed to: Remove greenhouse gases already present in the atmosphere; Reduce and/or prevent additional greenhouse gas emissions; and/or Monitor, track, and/or verify greenhouse gas emission reductions.
