Michelman Robinson was proud to join thousands of supporters across Southern California for the Ronald McDonald House Walk for Kids, an annual event helping provide comfort and housing for families with seriously ill children receiving treatment far from home.

Our OC team walked in Irvine and our LA team gathered in Pasadena, and together, we raised $4,205 and helped the Westside Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House reach its fundraising goal before the walk even began.

A special thank you to Amanda Monroe, who serves on the Ronald McDonald House Charities Board and has been central to our firm’s connection to this cause. And thanks to everyone at MR and beyond who showed up, gave generously, and made a difference.

What a great night at Crypto.com Arena with colleagues and friends across the legal community!

MR took in the Kings vs. St. Louis Blues game from ice-level seats, with access to a private lounge, the chance to high-five players in the tunnel, and a post-game, on-ice photo. The experience delivered at every turn, and the game didn’t disappoint. The Kings sealed it in OT on a Trevor Moore goal to cap a 2–1 thriller.

A special evening bringing together an incredible group of people. Go Kings Go. Go MR Go.

The London Michelman Robinson team were delighted to welcome over 200 colleagues, connections and friends to celebrate the launch of our Corporate Crime & Investigations practice.

It was fantastic to see such strong support for this growing area of the firm and to connect with so many people who play a part in the work we do. The energy in the room was exceptional, and we are excited about the opportunities ahead as we continue to expand our capabilities across complex investigations, corporate crime, enforcement and compliance matters.

What a day at MetLife Stadium! Members of our New York office had an incredible time cheering on the Jets this past Sunday, courtesy of our client FlyHouse, the NFL team’s official and exclusive private aviation provider. While the final score didn’t go our way, the energy was sky-high as we celebrated FlyHouse’s landmark partnership with the Jets and its exciting collaborations with ESPN’s College GameDay, Monday Night Countdown, and NFL Live. To mark the occasion, we supported local businesses—2 Nigerian Boys and The Jollof Man—bringing the vibrant flavors of Nigerian, Ghanaian, and Senegalese traditions to a shared team lunch. More than a great meal, it was a moment to uplift community entrepreneurs, spark conversation, and reflect on the importance of representation and belonging in our workplaces and beyond. This celebration echoes our ongoing commitment to inclusion and championing diverse voices across our firm and the broader business community.

Kat Velez is the Senior Coordinator of Professional Development & Compliance in our New York office. Since joining the firm, Kat has driven attorney and staff growth by overseeing onboarding and annual compliance training, managing CLE and bar accreditations, coordinating MRU programs and firm committees (ALC, WAMR, and D&I), and partnering with marketing on awards surveys and video projects.

What’s a fun fact about you that most of your coworkers probably don’t know?

“I’m a professional musician and sing in various community and professional choirs around the tri-state area. Some favorites from the last couple of years include performing Gustav Holst’s The Planets at the Lincoln Center with the NY Philharmonic and Carmina Burana with the NJ Symphony. I’ve also had the privilege of competing in choir competitions internationally, allowing me to travel to eight different countries across Europe. At one of those competitions, the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod in Wales, I was a semi-finalist in their “Voice of Musical Theatre” solo competition. I’ve also sung on a few recording projects with the Sterling Ensemble in LA.”

Meet Devon! Devon Mills is an Associate in our Los Angeles office and a member of the Labor & Employment Practice Group. Since joining the firm, Devon has focused his practice on discrimination, harassment and retaliation claims under FEHA and CFRA, PAGA and wage‑and‑hour class actions, and routinely advises employers on hiring, accommodation and termination issues.

What initially drew you to practicing law — and has your motivation changed over time?

“I’d love to say I was inspired by watching Legally Blonde—and honestly, that might not be entirely untrue.

In reality, I was a college student at Arizona State University when I wrote and helped introduce legislation aimed at reducing deaths related to underage drinking. The bill allowed minors to call 911 for medical help for themselves or friends without fear of receiving citations for underage drinking.

After the bill had been introduced, I found myself sitting at a long conference table surrounded by attorneys and lobbyists, and I realized I needed to go to law school if I wanted to fully understand what was going on. I kept wondering who this elusive “reasonable person” was that everyone kept referring to.

That experience lit the spark.”

This past weekend, members of our NYC office laced up their sneakers and joined thousands of others in Central Park for AIDS Walk New York—a powerful show of unity in the fight against HIV/AIDS. The energy was amazing, and so was the outcome: we exceeded our fundraising goal in support of GMHC, a nonprofit, community-based AIDS service and advocacy organization. The walk wasn’t just about miles covered—it was about standing up for compassion, equity, and hope. We’re proud to have played a part.
