If your boss’s behavior is making you uncomfortable, here’s how to protect yourself:

📝 Document everything
Dates, times, what was said, who was there — details matter.

📲 Save everything
Texts, emails, screenshots — and keep copies outside your work accounts.

📣 Report it internally
HR or someone above them. It creates a record and puts your employer on notice.

⚖️ Talk to an employment lawyer
Most offer free consults — and you typically don’t pay unless you win.

And if things start feeling off after you speak up… that could be retaliation.

Not all sexual harassment looks the way you think it does. 🚫

❌ “It was just a joke — it doesn’t count.”
Intent doesn’t matter. If it’s unwelcome and creates a hostile work environment, it can still be harassment.

❌ “No one touched me, so it’s not harassment.”
Harassment isn’t just physical — comments, texts, emails, images, gestures all count.

❌ “I didn’t say stop clearly enough.”
You don’t need the perfect response. Fear, power dynamics, and workplace pressure matter.

❌ “It only counts if it’s my boss.”
No — coworkers, clients, even third parties can create liability if your employer failed to act.

If you’ve ever second-guessed yourself… trust that instinct.

👉 Follow for Part 4: what to do if this is happening to you.

STOP — did your coworker just send you that on Slack? 👀

Harassment doesn’t stop just because you’re remote.

If it’s unwelcome, crosses a line, and creates a hostile work environment — it counts. Period.

💻 Zoom comments
💬 Slack messages
📧 Emails you dread opening
📱 After-hours texts that feel off

The platform doesn’t matter. The impact does.

If something feels uncomfortable, trust that instinct.

👉 Follow for Part 3 — we’re breaking down the biggest myths about workplace sexual harassment.

Not all sexual harassment looks obvious. ⚠️

When your boss ties your job, promotion, schedule, or opportunities to how you respond to them — that’s not “flirting.” That’s quid pro quo sexual harassment. 🚩

It can sound like:
“If you’re nice to me, I’ll take care of you.”

Or feel like:
Unspoken pressure to go along… because your job depends on it. 😔

That power imbalance matters. And the law recognizes it. ⚖️

If something feels off, trust that instinct.

Need an accommodation at work but don’t know how to ask for one? Start here.

If you have a medical condition or disability that is affecting your ability to do your job, you may have the right to request a reasonable accommodation under California law.

Here’s the basic process:

✔️ Talk to your doctor
Discuss your limitations and what adjustments may help you perform your job.

✔️ Put your request in writing
An email to HR is often the best place to start. You do not need to use “magic legal words.”

✔️ Engage in the interactive process
This is the back-and-forth conversation between you and your employer to figure out what accommodation may work.

✔️ Provide documentation if requested
Your employer may ask for support from your healthcare provider, but they generally do not need your full diagnosis.

✔️ Follow up
If the accommodation isn’t working, the process can and should continue.

A lot of employees think they have to “just deal with it” — but that’s not always true.
