Shein’s Hong Kong debut put a public price on fast fashion — and it is a long way from the private-market peak.

BBC puts the listing valuation around $26.3 billion after Shein priced at HK$48.56 and raised about $1.7 billion. That is roughly three-quarters below the nearly $100 billion mark investors once floated in 2022. Shares swung as much as 10% lower on day one before settling into a tepid close.

New York and London never worked. Hong Kong did — with slower growth, lost U.S. duty exemptions, and regulatory overhang baked into the tape.

Canada is recruiting top U.S. researchers while American universities face funding pressure.

Industry Minister Mélanie Joly announced 64 Eddie Goldenberg Research Chairs on August 27 — 48 coming from U.S. schools including Harvard, MIT, Yale, and Cornell. Forbes puts the first cohort at $504 million over eight years, part of a $1.7 billion Canada Global Impact+ program aimed at more than 1,000 international scholars.

Nature reports Michigan losing three researchers and Harvard and MIT each losing two. Several chairs are bringing graduate students and postdocs with them.

Forbes profiles Rome's Angelini family — a fourth-generation Italian pharma dynasty Forbes puts at about $10 billion — and its push into the United States.

Angelini Pharma closed a $4.1 billion cash deal for Catalyst Pharmaceuticals on July 16, 2026, paying $31.50 a share and delisting the Florida rare-disease biotech from Nasdaq. Italy's CDP Equity put in about €1 billion for a 23.5% stake; Blackstone added about €1 billion in preferred equity.

The family group dates to 1919. Forbes frames the Catalyst buy as the ticket into America's brain-health and rare-disease market — not a cosmetic expansion of an already global name.

MaryRuth Ghiyam built a vitamin company Forbes now puts at about $1.5 billion.

She started MaryRuth’s in 2014. Forbes says the brand does about $600 million in trailing sales, about $125 million in EBITDA, and that she and her family still hold about 97% after a $420 million Capital One debt raise that closed in October 2025.

Billionaires are writing record checks for sports teams — and this month reset the market.

Josh Kushner and Bob Iger agreed to buy the Lakers at $12.5 billion, less than a year after Mark Walter paid $10 billion. Vinod Khosla’s group agreed to buy the Seahawks for $9.6 billion. A Bezos-backed group just took about 38% of Liverpool.

The Lakers sale still needs NBA approval.

Naked Wardrobe is now on Revolve — online and in stores as of August 23.

The Los Angeles label, founded in 2012 by sisters Shirin, Shida, and Shideh Kaviani, is using the launch as a wholesale step into more U.S. shops. Pieces run $31 to $328. This is a partnership, not a sale of the company.

Revolve did $347.4 million in second-quarter sales, up 12%.

Ferrero is buying Purely Elizabeth for an estimated $850 million.

Founder Elizabeth Stein started the granola brand in her Manhattan kitchen in 2009. Forbes says she owns about two-thirds of the company and will walk away with about $400 million after taxes — and stay CEO.

The brand now has 40 products in more than 30,000 stores. Ferrero announced the deal Friday. Neither company confirmed the price; $850 million is Forbes’ estimate.

The BBC says it cannot serve subpoenas on Ivanka Trump, Donald Trump Jr., and Jared Kushner in President Trump’s $10 billion defamation lawsuit.

In a court filing Aug. 14, the broadcaster asked a Florida federal judge to allow alternative service by email and certified mail. Lawyers say Secret Service protection blocked hand delivery at the family’s Florida home and Trump Tower.

The BBC argues the three have personal knowledge of Trump’s Jan. 6 speech and related records. Trump’s team called the move harassment.
