Six police officers. One unarmed, mentally ill, homeless man. A 9-minute and 40-second beating that ended in death.

Kelly Thomas was 37 years old when he was killed by Fullerton police officers on July 5, 2011. One of the officers—who was later charged but found not guilty—can be heard on tape claiming he used the end of his Taser to smash Kelly's face "to hell," and that "he was on something".

The official toxicology report confirmed Kelly had zero drugs or alcohol in his system. He wasn't fighting back. He was suffocating under 1,500 pounds of force.

Five days later, he was dead. No one was ever held accountable.

The officers who killed Kelly Thomas were allowed to watch the CCTV footage before writing their reports.

"When you have six criminals involved in a crime, you don't put them all in one room and allow them to compare notes and then watch a video tape to make sure their notes jibe with it."

On August 22, 2020, as he’d done so many times before, Jim Simpson went out for his weekend walk in Chino, California.

He was three miles in, standing at the corner of Chino and Pipeline, when a Detective from the LAPD ran a red light. Christopher Ravenstein, a driver with the right of way, je**ed his steering wheel to avoid colliding with the Detective. His Ford Expedition swerved and hit a traffic pole, which crushed down on 66-year-old Jim Simpson.

Jim’s physical wounds were visibly devastating, but his unseen injury would take years to fully reveal itself.

That’s when Garo and Armen stepped in to hold the City of Los Angeles accountable.

The deputies entered the house, passing the living room on the way to the backyard where they saw Frank Jr., his two children, Frank Sr. and the two dogs lying on the floor, while Frank Jr.’s mother Lorraine remained in the hallway. The deputies then exited the home and left the family on their own.
