Insurance companies may look at your medical history when evaluating an injury claim. If the same body part was injured before, one of the questions may be whether your current symptoms came from the recent accident or were already there.

Having a pre-existing condition does not automatically prevent you from recovering damages. If an accident made an existing physical or emotional condition worse, damages may be available for the aggravation caused by the accident. That’s where medical documentation can become important.
