As we embark on the beginning of the holiday season, we are reflecting on the endless challenges we have confronted this year, but most importantly, on what drives our team to commit to representing and supporting some of the most vulnerable immigrants in Southern California.
Earlier this year we were faced with the grim reality of funding cuts and an administration that is focused on limiting due process for migrants. While this forced our team to make shifts in programming that were unforeseen, we quickly and strategically pivoted to meet the changing needs of the community we are dedicated to serving.
We have embraced the changes and new partnerships that have allowed us to continue providing integral services. We are thankful for the new opportunities that have presented themselves and for the long-standing stakeholder partnerships.
While our program’s goals are rooted in providing expert immigration legal advice and guidance that promote access to justice, we also strive to make Esperanza a home for our staff, interns, legal fellows, and volunteers.
In that spirit, we have reflected on what brings us joy about engaging in the work that we do.
And that is the people. Our clients. Our colleagues. Our community.
We are grateful for having the privilege and honor to work at Esperanza, and to learn about the resiliency of our clients.
