✅ Do not sign ANYTHING without reading it and it coming from someone you trust. Or have attorney you trust review it. A lot of misinformation and scammers will be surfacing out of the woodwork to take advantage of your devastation and how overwhelmed you will be through this crises.
✅ Trust my friends at the Red Cross. They can help you get placed with Airbnb and get you debit cards with cash to buy clothes groceries and everything else you need.
✅ Don't believe anything you are reading unless it's riding on a piece of paper by someone you trust. And if you don't have someone you trust reach out to family members and friends for a referral
✅ Verify Contractors & Services: Always check licenses and references before hiring anyone for repairs or cleanup. Avoid paying large upfront deposits.
✅ Beware of Fake Charities: Only donate to and seek help from established, reputable organizations. Scammers often pose as relief charities.
✅ Protect Your Personal Info: Never share sensitive information like Social Security numbers, insurance details, or bank info without verifying the recipient's legitimacy.
✅ Get Agreements in Writing: Ensure all repair contracts are clear, with full details and timelines. Keep copies for your records.
✅ Report Suspicious Activity: If you suspect fraud, report it to local authorities and consumer protection agencies immediately.
