Scammers have gotten creative, and one of the more concerning trends is fake social media accounts designed to look like they are from the Social Security Administration. They use official SSA imagery, colors, and language to appear legitimate — and they can be surprisingly convincing.

It is worth knowing that Social Security will never ask for personal or sensitive information through social media, email, or text. If you ever come across an account claiming to be SSA or a government official, here are a few things to look for:
▪️Low follower count
▪️Spelling or punctuation errors
▪️Links that do not end in .gov
▪️Requests for payment on forms or documents that are typically free
▪️A social media handle that does not match official SSA accounts

You can find links to SSA's verified social media accounts at www.ssa.gov/socialmedia

Disability claims rely heavily on documentation. When documents are easier to find, it can reduce delays, make it easier to respond to questions, and take some pressure off of the process.

If you’re not sure what documents matter, this list is a great place to start:
✅ Medical Records
✅ Medication Information
✅ Work & Income Records
✅ Social Security Documents
✅ Personal Notes & Symptom Tracking

Did you know the Social Security Administration has a program designed to fast-track disability approvals for people facing certain severe diagnoses? It is called the Compassionate Allowance program. If you or someone you love is dealing with a serious health condition and considering a disability claim, explore whether the condition qualifies.

Disability law is personal work. It means understanding not just the process, but the person behind the claim—their health, their family, and the community they call home.

At Roose Ressler and Green Co., LPA, our team is committed to advocating for the people we serve because they are our neighbors. Whether clients connect with us in person or virtually, we prioritize real conversations and thoughtful attention at every step of the disability application and appeal process.

Applying for disability benefits is one of the more stressful things a person can go through. It takes time, it requires patience, and it can feel really uncertain along the way.

What makes our team special is that we feel that weight too, and we carry it together. The care we have for one another is the same care we bring to every client and every case. We are grateful every day to work alongside people who are dedicated, compassionate, and who advocate for others.

If you have ever wondered how Social Security disability benefits are calculated, you are not alone. It is one of the more common questions people have when they start exploring their options.

Benefits are based on something called your Average Indexed Monthly Earnings, or AIME, which reflects your earnings history adjusted for inflation over time. The Social Security Administration has already done that calculation for you, and you can find your estimated benefit amount by logging into your my Social Security account at www.ssa.gov.

Disability benefits are not just for adults. Children may also qualify, but Social Security's guidelines differ.

If you’re a parent or guardian wondering whether your child may qualify for SSI, understanding these standards is an important first step. Watch our video to learn more.

There isn’t a perfect time to apply for disability, but there are signs that it may be time to seriously consider applying. If your condition has forced you to stop working or reduce your hours significantly, if your doctors have placed ongoing restrictions on your activities or suggested you should apply, you should explore your options. Waiting too long can sometimes mean lost time and loss of benefits of which you may have been entitled.

Here are a few things to consider before you begin the application process: https://www.rooselaw.com/things-to-consider/
