🚨 USCIS Announces New Form I-864 — Effective Immediately

USCIS announced on August 31, 2026, a new edition of Form I-864, Affidavit of Support — and there is no grace period.

Effective immediately, applicants should use the 08/24/26 edition of Form I-864.

⚠️️ Important change: The new I-864 includes a privacy release authorizing USCIS to request information from consumer reporting agencies.

If a sponsor has a credit or security freeze, USCIS may be unable to access information needed to evaluate the Affidavit of Support. Sponsors should promptly respond to any request to lift or release a freeze to avoid delays.

USCIS anunció el 31 de Agosto de 2026 una nueva edición del Formulario I-864, Declaración Jurada de Patrocinio Económico, sin período de gracia.

A partir de ahora, los solicitantes deben utilizar la edición 08/24/26 del Formulario I-864.

⚠️ Cambio importante: El nuevo I-864 incluye una autorización de privacidad que permite a USCIS solicitar información a agencias de informes de crédito al consumidor.

Si un patrocinador tiene un congelamiento de crédito o de seguridad, USCIS podría no tener acceso a la información necesaria para evaluar la Declaración Jurada de Patrocinio Económico. Los patrocinadores deben responder rápidamente a cualquier solicitud para levantar o liberar el congelamiento y así evitar retrasos.

Her Military Parole in Place was approved, allowing her to be paroled into the United States. From there, we filed her Adjustment of Status, and she was able to obtain her Green Card. 💚🎉
