The Long Beach Bar Association was founded by a small group of lawyers in the parlor of the Hotel Schuyler on February 3, 1917. Its mission was then, and continues to be today, to provide a welcoming, congenial, and stimulating home for attorneys, judges, and legal professionals in the City of Long Beach, our surrounding communities, and the greater Los Angeles area. The members of the Long Beach

Bar Association include over 400 attorneys, judges of the Los Angeles Superior Court, justices of the California Appellate Court, and other legal professionals from throughout the greater Long Beach area, including many cities in Los Angeles and Orange Counties. Our members represent clients in all walks of life, across many professions, businesses, activities, and geographical areas. Our diversity and range of experience enhance our members' participation in the Association while at the same time allowing us to provide a broad range of services to the public.

On behalf of the Long Beach Bar Association, thank you to everyone who joined us (in person or in spirit) to celebrate our 109th Annual Installation & Awards Dinner this past Thursday! It was a night defined by "Justice, Legacy, and Leadership" as we gathered to honor true giants of the Southern California legal community.

We were privileged to celebrate our distinguished 2026 honorees:

Lawyer of the Year (Posthumous): Samuel "Skip" Keesal
Judge of the Year: Hon. James Horan
Distinguished Service: Mario Cordero

The evening also marked a significant milestone for our leadership as we officially installed Asst. City Prosecutor Randall Fudge as our 2026 President. We look forward to the expertise and vision he brings to our organization in the year ahead!

We’re proud to announce this year’s Long Beach Bar Association Award Honorees!
Join us as we celebrate outstanding leadership and service to our legal and civic community at the 109th LBBA Installation & Award Dinner on February 26 at Hotel Maya, beginning at 5:00 PM.

• Lawyer of the Year: (awarded posthumously) Skip Keesal — was a powerhouse Long Beach attorney and civic leader who built a global law firm and devoted his life to local philanthropy.
• Distinguished Service Award: Mario Cordero — former Port of Long Beach CEO, recognized for guiding the Port through major cargo growth, the global pandemic, and groundbreaking sustainability initiatives, as well as his service on the Federal Maritime Commission and Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners.
• Judge of the Year: Hon. James C. Horan — a respected Los Angeles Superior Court Judge known for his long-standing service in Long Beach and Whittier and his earlier career as a dedicated public defender.
