How To Set Up An LLC In 3 Steps.

If you’re forming an LLC, here’s exactly what the process looks like, start to finish.

Step one: file Articles of Organization with your Secretary of State. Then wait for approval, it typically takes a few days depending on your state.

Step two: once approved, sign an Operating Agreement. This document governs how your LLC actually runs, ownership, decision-making, and what happens if a member leaves.

Step three: get an EIN from the IRS. This is your business’s tax ID, and you’ll need it to open a business bank account, hire employees, and file taxes.

Three steps, and your LLC is officially formed. For best results, work with an attorney who will do this for you!

Also, here’s what most new business owners miss. Forming the LLC is just the beginning. Once it exists, it needs to be properly aligned with your estate plan, just like every other asset you own. An LLC sitting outside your trust can still end up in probate.

As always, consult with a licensed professional before you try this at home. This is NOT legal advice and it is for educational purposes ONLY!

By age 55, these things should already be in place 🛑

1️⃣ If you haven’t set up a living trust yet, now is a good time to do it.

But creating the trust is only part of the process.

2️⃣ Make sure your assets are properly aligned with the trust and that the beneficiary designations on your retirement accounts are up to date.

3️⃣ You should also have healthcare and 4️⃣ financial powers of attorney in place.

5️⃣And now is a good time to talk with your beneficiaries, trustees, and children about the wishes you’ve laid out in your living trust.

The people who may need to carry out your wishes should understand the plan before they’re ever asked to use it.

As always, consult with a licensed professional before you try this at home. This is NOT legal advice and it is for educational purposes ONLY!

SAVE this and SHARE it with someone approaching 55. A complete plan can make things much clearer for the people you care about.

85% of estate plans fail. (Episode 3 of 3)

And one of the biggest reasons is that setting up a trust is only the beginning.

Even if your trust was drafted properly, signed, and notarized, your home, financial accounts, and potentially your business still need to be properly aligned with the trust.

And anytime there’s a major life change, or at least every 3 to 5 years, both your trust and your asset alignment need to be reviewed and updated.

Otherwise, your estate plan may no longer reflect your assets, your family, or your wishes.

This is exactly why we offer our clients The Legacy Program.

It’s not a one-time document. It’s an ongoing relationship with your plan. Your trust stays funded. Your assets stay aligned. And every time your life changes, a new home, a new business, a growing family, your plan changes with it, instead of quietly falling behind.

Traditional estate plans give you documents. The Legacy Program gives you protection that actually keeps up with your life.

Over the last 3 days, we broke down exactly why traditional estate plans fail. The Legacy Program is how we fix it, for good.

As always, consult with a licensed professional before you try this at home. This is NOT legal advice and it is for educational purposes ONLY!

SAVE this whole series and SHARE it with someone whose plan hasn’t been touched in years. Setting it up is only the beginning.

Your estate plan can become outdated faster than you think. (Episode 2 of 3)

You might set up a trust and then leave it untouched for five years.

But during those five years, you may buy a new home.

You may start a business.

Your assets, family, or circumstances may simply change.

The average family updates their estate plan every 11 years. But major life changes can happen within just 3-5 years.

And that gap is where a lot of plans fail.

Your estate plan needs to keep up with your life as it changes.

This is Episode 2 of our 3-part series on why traditional estate plans fail. Episode 3 drops tomorrow, and it’s where we introduce something we’ve never shared publicly before, a completely different approach to estate planning. Trust us, you don’t want to miss this.

As always, consult with a licensed professional before you try this at home. This is NOT legal advice and it is for educational purposes ONLY!

A signed trust can still fail. (Episode 1 of 3)

If your trust was properly drafted by an estate planning attorney, signed, and notarized, that’s an important start.

But if your assets aren’t properly aligned with your trust, you could still end up with a failed estate plan.

Your trust needs to work together with the assets it’s meant to protect.

Your Career Is 10 Years. Your Money Needs To Last 50.

If you’re a professional athlete, this is worth hearing. 🏆🛑

You’re likely earning a significant amount of money within a 5 to 10 year window. That’s completely different from the average person, who earns steadily over 30 to 40 years.

That compressed timeline is exactly why it’s so urgent to have an estate plan, a wealth plan, and an investment plan in place. Not eventually! Now.

Because the money you make in those 5 to 10 years has to carry you for the rest of your life. There’s no second contract for most people. No do-over.

The athletes who stay protected long after their career ends aren’t the ones who earned the most. They’re the ones who planned the earliest.

As always, consult with a licensed professional before you try this at home. This is NOT legal advice and it is for educational purposes ONLY!

SAVE this and SHARE it with every athlete you know, at any level. This mindset applies earlier than most people think.

Every pet owner needs to hear this! 🐶🐱🛑

If you have a will and you leave money to your furry friend, that plan will fail. Legally, animals cannot inherit money. The gift usually fails, and the money goes somewhere you never intended.

Instead, you can set up a Pet Trust.

You designate a caretaker, someone who actually takes your pet in. You specify exactly how much money they’re to receive for your pet’s care. And you leave detailed instructions, food, vet visits, routines, whatever matters to you, so your pet’s care continues exactly the way you’d want it.

Without a plan, your pet’s future is a guess.

With a Pet Trust, your pet is protected by the same legal structure that protects everything else you love.

As always, consult with a licensed professional before you try this at home. This is NOT legal advice and it is for educational purposes ONLY!

SAVE this and SHARE it with every pet owner you know. Most have no idea a will doesn’t cover this.

By 45, life has changed a lot since your 20s and 30s. Your plan needs to reflect that.

1️⃣ A living trust. If you haven’t set one up yet, this is the time.

You also need to make sure all of your assets are aligned with the trust, including any investment properties you’ve picked up along the way. A trust that doesn’t own your assets doesn’t protect them.

2️⃣ You need a healthcare power of attorney, so the right people make medical decisions for you if you can’t.

3️⃣ And a financial power of attorney, so someone can manage your finances if you become incapacitated.

4️⃣ If you don’t have life insurance, this is the time to seriously consider it.

5️⃣ And 45 is also a good age to start looking at long-term care options, before you actually need them.

As always, consult with a licensed professional before you try this at home. This is NOT legal advice and it is for educational purposes ONLY!

SAVE this and SHARE it with everyone you know turning 45 or older. This could be the push they need.
