Congratulations to LBPD Officer Adam Yu on receiving the 2026 Governor’s Public Safety Officer Medal of Valor Award, California’s highest honor for public safety officers.

When seconds mattered most, Officer Yu didn’t hesitate.

He was recognized for his extraordinary bravery after rescuing a young teen trapped inside a burning vehicle following a pursuit-related crash. Despite rapidly spreading flames, Officer Yu returned to the vehicle and helped save the teen’s life moments before it became fully engulfed.

His courage, selflessness, and commitment to protecting others embody the very best of law enforcement. Officer Yu’s actions saved a life and serve as a powerful reminder of the dedication and bravery displayed by our officers every day.
