You need to remember that news outlets paint pictures with their headlines that make people want to read their news. There is an old saying in the news industry "If it bleeds it leads". Well in the world of economics or real estate, things generally don't bleed. But if they create headlines that produce uncertainty and confusion, the reader will tune in to see what's going on.
