Every rodeo competitor can tell you about the wins.

The stories that shape you, though, usually come from the challenges.

In this clip from her Stinger FM interview, Lila shares what she considers one of the hardest parts of rodeo. It's a thoughtful reminder that growth often happens outside the spotlight—and that perseverance is just as important as talent.

Thank you to Stinger FM for sharing Lila's story with the community. You can hear her Rodeo Queen vignettes through Friday, airing around half past each hour.

⚠️ Most people think signing a Power of Attorney means their family will automatically be able to help if something happens to them.

But here’s the hidden catch many Texas families don’t discover until it’s too late:

🚑 A medical emergency happens.
🏦 An adult child goes to the bank with a valid document in hand.
❌ And the bank says: “We can’t accept this.”

Now the family is scrambling during one of the hardest moments of their lives.

This week’s blog explains why banks sometimes reject even valid Powers of Attorney, what that can mean for your family, and the practical steps you can take now to help make sure your plan actually works when it matters most.

🐎One of the best things about rodeo is that every contestant has a story.

Sometimes those stories happen in the arena. Sometimes they happen out in the pasture, on a trailer ride home, or during a quiet moment with a trusted horse.

Hear one of Lila Debault's favorite memories in this clip from her recent Stinger FM interview. We're proud to sponsor Lila towards her goal of Rodeo Queen this weekend.

Thank you to Stinger FM for spotlighting local youth and our rodeo traditions. Listen through Friday at approximately half past each hour.

Many people assume inherited retirement accounts work just like inherited cash or property.

Not always.

Retirement accounts like traditional IRAs and 401(k)s can come with their own set of rules. In some cases, inherited funds may need to be withdrawn within a certain (shortened) timeframe, and those withdrawals could potentially affect someone's tax situation.

That's one reason estate planning isn't just about deciding who gets what. It's also about understanding how different assets work so your family isn't caught off guard later.

Did you know? Lila completed an internship at a horse breeding and training facility to learn even more about the industry she loves. What began as rides on her grandfather’s ranch have begun to shape her future. Now, she looks forward to pursuing a career in ranch management. She’s hoping to serve as Llano’s Rodeo Queen along the way.

We are thrilled to sponsor Lila in pursuit of a sport she adores and hope you’ll stop by 1404 Ford Street, get your tickets, and be there to watch her in the Rodeo on June 5th and 6th.

Estate planning conversations are full of things people have heard from a friend, cousin, neighbor, or somebody's uncle at a barbecue.

Sometimes those stories are right. Sometimes... not so much.

We hear this one a lot around the Texas Hill Country. Most folks are relieved to learn Texas doesn't have a state inheritance tax - but that doesn't necessarily mean taxes never enter the picture.

Other taxable considerations might include:
✔ Ranch land
✔ Mineral rights
✔ Hunting property
✔ Family homes
✔ Small businesses
✔ Retirement accounts

It can be a lot to think about. Our latest blog linked in the comments has more info.

Small towns are pretty special because we get to watch kids grow up right in front of us. One day they’re tagging along, learning the ropes, and before you know it they’re chasing big goals and making their community proud.

For Lila Debault, horses, ranch life, and hard work have always been part of the journey. Now she’s excited for the chance to represent Llano as Rodeo Queen, and every ticket purchased helps support her along the way.

A family home. Ranch land. Mineral rights. Grandpa's hunting place. A retirement account built little by little over many years.

When most of us think about leaving something behind, we usually think about who gets it. What often gets missed is what happens next - and whether taxes, paperwork, or other surprises might come along with it.

This week's blog clears up some common misunderstandings we hear from Texas families and covers a few things that may surprise you. Link in comments.

🐎There’s just something about kids who grow up with horses. They learn pretty quickly that early mornings are normal, hard work comes before rewards, and sometimes you have to dust yourself off and climb back in the saddle. They know challenges are opportunities.

For Lila Debault, horses have been a part of life since she was little, and that love has grown into a passion for the western way of life. Now she’s excited for the opportunity to represent Llano as Rodeo Queen, and she’d love your support along the way.
