American Association of Blacks in Energy - Michigan Chapter Provides quality meetings for the membership to develop personally and professionally. Turner Golf (Fundraising): Hosts the George C. Lewis H.

The American Association of Blacks in Energy is a national association of energy professionals dedicated to ensure the input of minorities into the discussions and development of energy policy, R&D technologies and environmental issues. Chapter Committees:

Public Policy: The Public Policy Committee is responsible for vision and insight on energy issues and their impact on the African-American com

munity and for providing such information to the Association, where appropriate. This committee is also responsible for developing contacts with legislators to advocate the Chapter’s concerns about energy issues in the community and the nation. Turner Annual Golf Tournament; the proceeds fund our annual scholarships. Membership: The Membership Committee directs all activities of the Chapter concerned with the recruitment and maintenance of members. The committee receives and processes all applications for membership, including reinstatements, and notifies the membership of all such applications upon submission to the National Association and the local chapter. The Membership Committee is also responsible for preparing membership packages for prospective members and representing the Chapter at various events where there are opportunities to present benefits of the Chapter to the public. In addition, they assist members with information on the Chapter and inform members of upcoming events and opportunities in the energy industry. Communications: The Committee provides members with information on available training and opportunities for their personal and professional development. The Communications Committee is also responsible for management of the AABE Michigan and MSU Chapter websites. Education/Scholarship: Awards local Michigan graduating high school seniors with energy related awards to be presented at the Lewis H. Latimer Scholarship Awards Event. Latimer: The Lewis H. Latimer Committee is the committee which plans, organizes and implements the annual event. Named after the historic African-American inventor, the Lewis H. Latimer Awards Dinner itself is the forum where we present the awards to someone in the community that has shown outstanding public service and recognize the scholarship winners.

The 2026 AABE National and Regional Scholarship Program is open!

AABE offers scholarships to support underrepresented students pursuing degrees in energy-related fields. These scholarships provide financial assistance to help students achieve their academic and career goals in the energy industry.

Eligibility:
o Unweighted academic average of B or better (minimum GPA of 3.0 or a 4.0 scale)
o Graduating high school senior who intends to enroll next semester in an accredited college, technical or trade school, or university
o Pursuing a major in business, one of the physical sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics fields (STEM)

How to Apply:
1. Visit the application website for detailed information on eligibility criteria, application requirements, and the online application portal.
2. Prepare all required documents: Transcripts, personal statement, and other supporting materials.
3. Submit your application before the February 15, 2026 at 11:59pm ET deadline.

We are excited to announce that the American Association of Blacks in Energy (AABE) Scholarship Program for the 2025-2026 academic year is now open for applications! This program supports outstanding high school seniors who plan to pursue a career in energy and related fields.

Application Window: November 1, 2025 – February 15, 2026

If you know a high school student who is passionate about making a difference in the energy sector, do not miss this opportunity to share information about the AABE Scholarship Program. This is an excellent opportunity for them to receive financial assistance to help reach their academic goals.

Eligibility:
• High school students with a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.0
