In just over six weeks, the Nebraska State Bar Association Leadership Academy raised over $10,000 to support attorneys and law students through the Nebraska Lawyers Assistance Program, and today the community came together and walked in support of mental health awareness.
We have all seen the notices. We have all felt the weight of losing colleagues or watching others struggle. This profession asks a lot, and sometimes it takes more than it should. The truth is, we have all witnessed moments where someone needed help and maybe did not feel like they could ask for it.
Today was about acknowledging that reality and doing something about it, even in a small way.
Check on your people. Have the conversation. Ask how they are doing. You never know who may need help. Most importantly, take care of yourself.
