TLDR: Due to the success of Swaroff Law I’ve taken the opportunity to join a fantastic law firm, Rembolt Ludtke (you’ll hear more about this in another post) and today I closed down my solo practice. Keep reading for the lengthier post mortem.
On the last day of Swaroff Law, I shut my laptop at 5:10pm, working until the very last minute to ensure a smooth transition for my clients. Such a bittersweet moment, but heavy on the sweet.
Four years ago my risk-averse-self told John I wanted to start my own law office. Forever having absolute faith in me, he said yes immediately. I then showed him my financial projections, we saved up extra money in case things went wrong, and I took a leap. With two clients. And from two clients, Swaroff Law grew, and then grew again. And I grew, and grew, and grew. As a person and lawyer, wife and friend. And so much as a mother.
I have worn alllllll the hats. Taking out the garbage. Keeping the books. Figuring out why the printer stopped printing, the internet went down & why the air isn’t cooling. I became an employer for the first time, employing my dear friend Jaida Elizabeth and office baby Rue. Then Covid hit just before Swaroff Law turned one. There were sleepless nights, and there were stressful days, yet I got to experience the magic of a small business thriving despite the odds.
I took nothing and I created something. Something special to me, and something special to my clients. Thank you to everyone who trusted/trusts me with your friends, family, neighbors and co-workers.
My dear clients who see my heart and my talents. Thank you. One client (and now friend) once wrote me, “If others do not tell you, I can see the love and hard work you place into your business and clients . . . Thank you for caring for humanity and other women as you do. Your empowering nature is felt in this universe. I believe we are put on this earth because the world needs something we have, gifts. Thank you for living inside those gifts and sharing with others.”
In years two and three, I took collaborative divorce training, mediation training, serendipitously hired the fabulous Lacy Fritz as a full-time employee (thank goodness she’s coming with me!), moved to our own beautiful office and pushed myself to be the best attorney I could be. I also took advantage of being self-employed; accompanying John on a work trip to Hawaii, climbing a mountain, running a Ragnar and spending 2022 saying yes to opportunities and adventure.
Opening Swaroff Law is up there with having my kids and marrying my husband. It has changed me so much and I am forever grateful.
Now cheers to 2023, change and this next chapter in my life. Find me at:
