Peetz Koerwitz & Lafleur, PC LLO is please to announce that Matt Bl**er has joined the firm as an Associate Attorney. Matt’s practice focuses on estate planning, finance, political subdivisions, nonprofit organizations, and general business matters. He regularly advises families, businesses, and other entities on practical legal issues affecting their operations, growth, and long-term planning.
A native of West Des Moines, Iowa, Matt followed in his father’s footsteps into the legal field. He attended the University of Nebraska College of Law, graduating in 2025 with a Concentration in Business Transactions. During law school, he clerked with a boutique firm in Lincoln where he assisted with mergers and acquisitions, corporate compliance, securities reporting and compliance, and general corporate matters. Prior to joining PKL, he practiced in rural Nebraska as a general practice attorney where he had the privilege to serve as City and Village Attorney for several Nebraska communities.
Before law school, Matt completed his undergraduate studies at Creighton University in 2018 with a BSBA, double majoring in management and marketing. Early in his career, he worked in account management and sales for an international freight brokerage before transitioning into commercial banking, where he underwrote more than $1 billion in commercial real estate development loans for a large regional bank.
Outside of the office, Matt is active in music and arts education. He serves on the boards for the Colts Drum & Bugle Corps and the Colts Alumni & Booster Club of Dubuque, Iowa, of which he is an alumnus. He also serves as Director of Athletic Bands for Creighton University and works as a freelance drill writer, visual consultant, and clinician for high school marching programs in Nebraska and Missouri. Matt and his wife Abigail, also an attorney at PKL, live in Lincoln with their two daughters and are active in their local church community.
