Buzzard Law Firm is proud to announce that the 2025 recipient of our Harnett County Public Service Award goes to Brandon Harris. Brandon has committed 12 years of service to Lillington Parks and Recreation. Brandon attended Campbell University where he played football for the Fighting Camels. He was a part-time intern for the recreation department during college and upon graduation became a full-time Recreation Specialist with the Town. Brandon advanced to Athletic Coordinator and currently serves as the Assistant Director of Lillington Parks and Recreation.

Brandon is constantly working for the Town, over and above the call of duty, and in every situation is warm and professional. His knowledgeable, calming, and humble presence is instrumental in keeping the program a huge success for the kids in our local community.

Brandon is pictured here with his wife Rashena, children Brannah and Blaze, and Robert A. “Tony” Buzzard. As part of the award, Brandon received a plaque commemorating the award and a check from Buzzard Law Firm as a token of our appreciation. Thank you Brandon for all you do for our community! Buzzard Law Firm is proud to announce that the 2024 recipient of our Harnett County Public Service Award goes to Zane Campbell. Zane is the head coach of the wrestling team at the PAL program and has been instrumental in turning this program into a huge success for the kids in our local community. And he does it all as a volunteer, spending hundreds of hours of his personal time to help the kids in the program. In his “other” life, Zane is a 13 year returned U.S. Army veteran who spent his time as a flight medic and retired as a staff sergeant. Zane then spent two years as a civilian special operations medical instructor. Zane has a total of 20 years experience as a critical care paramedic and currently serves as the director of the Veterans Treatment Court in Harnett County. Zane also serves on the State Treatment Court Training Team. Zane has been married to Rose Campbell for 12 years and Rose is a huge supporter of Zane’s volunteer work with the PAL program. Merry Christmas Zane and thank you for all you do for the kids in our community!

For our 7th Annual Harnett County Public Service Award, we have taken the liberty of not seeking nominations. We have hand selected a very special person this year, known to so many in our community. This year’s recipient, pictured in the middle below receiving the award and a check to help during the holidays is Theresa Carver.

Theresa has been teaching our Harnett County Youth for 24 years. The first three years were at Lillington Elementary and the last 21 at Harnett Central Middle School, where she was teacher of the year just last year. Theresa is the Jr. Beta Club advisor and the Southeastern liaison for Back the Blue NC, Inc. The Jr. Beta Club recently sent Christmas cards to overseas soldiers and finished their annual canned food drive for the middle school’s food pantry, which the club started years ago.

Just as impressively, Theresa is now doing all this while suffering from cancer. Theresa was recently diagnosed with a malignant tumor on her larynx. She will soon begin chemo and radiation therapy. Of course, she is familiar with cancer as her son Ryan was diagnosed in 2018 with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Ryan went through treatment and, thankfully, has been in remission for three years. We are hopeful that Theresa’s treatment will go as well.

Please join us in not only thanking Theresa for her years of service to our community but also in praying for Theresa’s recovery. She is definitely one of the great ones in in our community!

Buzzard Law Firm is proud to announce that our 2021 Harnett County Public Service Award and monetary gift has been awarded to Mark Hornsby. We did not request submissions this year because we felt strongly about making this award to Mark.

As most of you know, Mark has been running the Harnett County PAL youth program for many, many years. The program has youth boxing and wrestling, and recently added after school computer stations for kids in the Lillington area. The goal of the program is to provide opportunities for the youth in our community who need and deserve it most.

Mark is a former corrections officer and has served for many years as a deputy with the Harnett County Sheriffs Department. Mark spends countless hours during the week and on weekends to help our youth and is well deserving of this award. Mark’s wife Tammy is also a huge help to Mark and the program. Pictured below with me is Mark, his wife Tammy, his daughter Katy, and several of the kids in the PAL program.

We want to thank Mark and all of those who serve our community here in Harnett County. Your efforts have 2020 a success and gives us hopes of a bright future in 2021. God Bless you all, and have a Merry Christmas!!
