The Trump administration has lifted the visa processing freeze for foreign physicians, ending a months-long halt that had sidelined thousands of doctors and worsened staffing shortages at hospitals across the country. USCIS confirmed that physician applications will now resume normal processing toward a final decision.

The January freeze halted work permit renewals and Green card processing for physicians already serving U.S. communities, as part of a broader effort to subject applicants from dozens of countries to additional vetting. The removal of medical physicians from the frozen list restores normal adjudication of H-1B extensions, J-1 waiver requests and immigrant petitions for thousands of doctors trained abroad.

Screening and vetting requirements will continue to exceed those of the prior administration, including expanded background checks, biometric screening and social media reviews. If you have a pending physician visa application or Green Card petition, now is the time to ensure your file is complete, accurate and positioned for the strongest possible outcome under the new standards.

This is one of the most important things a VAWA self-petitioner can know, and one of the most commonly misunderstood.

Remarrying before your I-360 is approved will result in a denial of your petition, regardless of how strong your case is or how close you are to the finish line. The qualifying relationship your petition is built on no longer exists in USCIS’s eyes the moment a new marriage begins.

After approval the rules change, remarriage will not affect your status, but the timing before that point is critical.

Effective March 30, 2026, the U.S. Department of State expanded its social media vetting requirement to over a dozen nonimmigrant visa categories including K-1 fiancé visas, R-1 religious worker visas, T and U visas for trafficking and crime victims, and several others.

All affected applicants are required to make their social media profiles publicly viewable before their visa interview and keep them accessible during processing. You must also disclose every platform and handle you have used in the past five years on Form DS-160; including accounts that are now inactive. Omitting an account can raise credibility concerns and affect your application.

This is not a proposal! It is already in effect and the consequences for non-compliance include delays and possible denial.

If you are in the application process or preparing to apply and you have questions about how this affects your specific case, now is the time to get proper legal guidance; not after something goes wrong.

Florida is changing what appears on your driver’s license and state ID starting January 1, 2027.

Under the newly signed SAVE Act, all Florida driver’s licenses and state ID cards will be required to display U.S. citizenship or legal immigration status. This applies to both new and renewed identification documents issued in the state.
If you are a Florida resident or plan to renew your identification before or after that date, understanding what this change means for your specific status is important.

Breaking news out of Washington today that directly affects the Haitian community across the United States.

The House of Representatives passed a bill today in a 224 to 204 vote that would extend Temporary Protected Status for Haitian nationals through 2029. Eleven Republicans broke with their party to support the measure alongside Democrats; a notable moment of bipartisan pushback on the current administration’s immigration direction.

What this means right now:
TPS protections for Haitian nationals have not been restored permanently. The bill still needs to pass the Senate, and the President is expected to veto it. A two-thirds majority in both chambers would be required to override that veto; a very high bar.

What has not changed:
A federal judge already blocked the administration from revoking these protections back in February. That block remains in place for now.

If you or someone you know holds TPS status or has been uncertain about what these developments mean for your specific situation, do not rely on headlines alone. Immigration law is complex and your circumstances matter.
