Micah Legal Micah Legal is Kentucky's first sliding scale legal services nonprofit. No one should have to go to court alone. to $150/hr.

Our mission: to increase access to justice for Lexingtonians with low-to-moderate incomes. Micah Legal is Kentucky's first sliding-scale legal services nonprofit. This model civically engages diverse constituencies, opens economic opportunities for those with low or no income, and sustainably increases the availability of affordable legal services. Micah Legal is bridging the gap between Legal Aid and regular attorneys, making sure that people with low and middle incomes are able to get help from an attorney that they can afford. Fees are based on client's family size and income, as well as the legal matter, and range from $15/hr. Clients referred by a local nonprofit receive free or low-cost legal services, such as expungement, child support, or disability assistance, to increase their economic opportunity, employability, and self-sufficiency.

You can pray until you faint, but if you don’t get up and try to do something, God is not going to put it in your lap.

I'm at a training this morning for Bluegrass Gives Day, which is coming up on December 1. I'm enjoying getting to know other nonprofits and being trained on how to best communicate our mission and impact.

Therefore encourage one another and build up each other, as indeed you are doing.
- 1 Thessalonians 5:11

[Let us] be ambassadors in the midst of a world torn asunder: ambassadors of truth, love and unity; ministers of justice, peace, and charity.
-Archbishop William E. Lori, Trinity Sunday homily

Loving God, thank you for the people who encourage, uplift, and walk alongside us. Help us be a source of strength and hope to others, building a community rooted in love, justice, and compassion. Amen

God, fill our hearts with gratitude for every opportunity to serve, for the strength to keep going, and for the trust you place in us. May we never take these gifts for granted. Amen.

I tell you, one has to be humble talking about what God does. Given that human imperfection, that incapacity to understand really what God is doing, one has to seek to do so, and there are indications that are clear. Certainly, God is more interested in, is committed to justice and not injustice.
- Gardner C. Taylor

If we are serious about peace, then we must work for it as ardently, seriously, continuously, carefully, and bravely as we have ever prepared for war.
- Wendell Berry

God of daring hope, inhabit our hearts with a sense of what’s to come and strengthen our resolve to meet the challenges of our times.

Verse of the day

Learn to do good; seek justice; rescue the oppressed; defend the orphan; plead for the widow.
- Isaiah 1:17

Voice of the day
Christ himself would agitate against them. He would agitate against the plutocrats and hypocrites who tell workers to go down on their knees and get right with God. Christ, the carpenter’s son, would tell them to stand up on their feet and fight for righteousness and justice on earth.
- Mary Harris “Mother” Jones

Prayer of the day
God who hears our pleas and petitions, transform the hearts of those who malign us so that they may hear us too, and keep us responsive to the causes that agitate us.
