Bourbon Heritage Month is a chance to celebrate what Kentucky has built over generations, and the people continuing to build on it.

Great bourbon is still at the heart of the industry. But today, a great product is only part of building a successful business. There’s also law, regulation, policy, strategy, relationships and a competitive market to navigate.

That’s why being connected to this industry matters. It helps us understand the environment our clients operate in, bring the right people to the table and be better partners as they build, grow and protect their businesses.

Throughout September, we’ll talk with clients, partners and industry leaders about what they’re seeing, what’s changing and what it takes to grow in Kentucky bourbon today.

Join us each Friday.

Your brand is only as strong as your ability to protect it. But the strength of trademark protection depends on more than just registration, such as where a mark falls on the spectrum of distinctiveness. Generally, the more descriptive a trademark is, the narrower the protection it receives. The more distinctive a mark becomes, especially if it is suggestive, arbitrary, or fanciful, the stronger and more protectable it is.

Learn more about the spectrum of distinctiveness from the McBrayer Intellectual Property team back in the very first episode of their podcast, Protected Thoughts: https://na2.hubs.ly/H07Bp3V0
