Great news for disabled students. The US Supreme ruled unanimously in favor of a deaf student over the school district. The district failed to provide a qualified sign interpreter. The ruling clarifies that families who accept a settlement under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) are not prevented from pursuing claims for compensatory damages under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
