Jon graduated with honors from Syracuse University and St. John’s University School of Law, where he was an Editor of the St. John’s Law Review. Admitted to practice in New York, Massachusetts and the federal courts of New York's Southern and Eastern District, he worked at several firms on Wall Street and Park Avenue before opening his own firm in 1982 at 230 Park Avenue, concentrating in representing individuals and companies in the entertainment field. In 2002, Jon transformed his practice with the Law Office of Jon Michael Probstein to other areas including real estate, matrimonial and family law, corporate law and litigation. In addition, he serves as a Part 137 Arbitrator on attorney/client fee disputes and as an Arbitrator in District Court, Nassau County, he is on the Arbitration Panel of the Eastern District Federal Court and is also a Part 146 mediator for various disputes. A qualified Part 36 Guardian &, Attorney in Queens, Nassau and Suffolk Counties, he is also a registered attorney with the New York State Department of Labor for Unemployment Insurance claims. Jon regularly performs pro bono work for the Volunteer Lawyers Project - Nassau/Suffolk Law Services, Inc., The Safe Center (formerly the Nassau County Coalition Against Domestic Violence) and the Nassau County Bar Association, where he is also a member of the Lawyers Assistance Program Committee, Vice Chair of the Real Property Committee and the recipient of the 2015 Thomas Maligno Pro Bono Attorney of the Year award. He is a member of the board of directors and a former President of the Levittown Chamber of Commerce.
