Allow me to introduce myself. I am Gilbert du Motier, Marquis de Lafayette, or Lafayette for short. I am a French aristocrat who defied my royal orders to become a trusted confidant of your beloved George Washington. I played a crucial role in securing American independence through my battlefield service, you're welcome, and my diplomatic efforts in France.

Way back when in 1825, I took a tour of Leesburg, and I found myself rather missing it. So, I will be returning this summer just in time to help you all commemorate the 200th anniversary of my glorious visit.

I invite you to follow the Town’s social media pages as I highlight some of Leesburg’s fascinating historic buildings and share details about our upcoming anniversary celebrations, which will include TASTE Leesburg on August 9!
