Information:

Many Utahans are worried about laws that prohibit them from carrying a gun while wearing a face mask, especially now that Summit and Salt Lake county have mandated face masks. What does the law say? Can a person wear a mask and carry a concealed firearm? Utah law has no prohibition against carrying a concealed firearm and wearing a mask. https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title76/Chapter10/76-10-P5.html

Some States DO have this law, states like Illinois. But even there, the Governor made a statement that one could continue to wear a protective mask, during this pandemic, and carry a gun, so long as no criminal activity was happening

Illinois law:

According to Illinois Compiled Statutes, Chapter 38, Sec. 24-1. under unlawful use of weapons, it states:
a) a person commits the offense of unlawful use of weapons when he knowingly:
9) carries or possesses in a vehicle or on or about his or her person any pistol, revolver, stun gun or taser or firearm or ballistic knife when he or she is hooded, robed or masked in such manner as to conceal his or her identity;

Opinion:

Rest at ease knowing your Second Amendment rights are still intact. It is unfortunate that face masks have become extremely political. As with any government mandates regarding a persons health, we need to be cautious. Government should not over reach on personal responsibility. Immunizations, face masks, and the like are a personal choice. Government should provide the best information possible and let the people govern themselves.
