All Mississippi taxpayers have until June 8 to file federal and state income and business taxes.
The Internal Revenue Service (https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/irs-announces-tax-relief-for-mississippi-taxpayers-impacted-by-severe-winter-storm-various-deadlines-postponed-to-june-8-2026) announced Tuesday and the Mississippi Department of Revenue (https://www.dor.ms.gov/news/relief-victims-winter-storm-fern-mississippi) announced Wednesday that they are extending the deadline due to Winter Storm Fern.

Many individuals may be undecided about whether to file a tax return if they have no dependents which would allow them to claim head of household, earned income credit, and/or child tax credit. The attached photo shows the filing status and income amounts that would REQUIRE a tax return to be filed. If your income does not meet the minimum amounts shown for your filing status and age, you are NOT REQUIRED to file a tax return unless you’re SELF-EMPLOYED and earned more than $400.
***If you have health insurance that was obtained via the Marketplace at healthcare.gov, you ARE REQUIRED to file a tax return.***
