Today is Mother’s Day, so we highlight our immigrant mothers. The mothers who crossed borders carrying the clothes on their back and the hope for a better future. The mothers who left behind their countries, their dreams, their family, and familiarity so their children could have a chance at safety, opportunity, and dignity. The mothers who work double shifts to make ends meet. The mothers who sacrifice quietly so their children never feel the full weight of their struggle. The mothers raising children while navigating immigration court dates, uncertainty, separation, and fear — yet still finding a way to love fiercely and show up every single day.
Immigrant mothers deserve their flowers today. Behind so many success stories is an immigrant mother who prayed harder, worked longer, and sacrificed more than anyone will ever fully know.
This Mother’s Day, we celebrate not only their strength, but also their humanity. They deserve flowers and rest, yes — but they also deserve compassion, protection, opportunity, and to be seen beyond their struggle.
To every immigrant mother: generations will bloom because of what you survived.
