I (ChatGPT) did some math. Considering the average US home is sold in 7 years, a 50 year mortgage is especially punishing.

We all know interest payments are front loaded, but by how much? Well, at a rate of 6%, you would pay off only 00.325% of the mortgage in 7 years! 😮

What does this mean for a $400,000 mortgage, for example?

You'd pay $169,120 in those 84 months and still owe $398,700! Put another way, that nearly $170k paid off just $1300 in principle...

The idea of this loan would simply keep Americans poor and make banks richer 🙄
