The Hawaiian word aloha is often translated as “hello” or “goodbye,” but its deeper meaning is rooted in kindness and compassion. It reminds me of as-salamu alaykum, “peace be upon you.”

That spirit was the perfect backdrop for my first State Bar of Nevada Annual Conference.

After years of attending larger conferences, I was struck by how personal this conference felt. Nevada’s legal community is small enough for late-night chai, engagement celebrations, and conversations that truly matter.

Grateful for the memories made, the conversations shared, and the reminder that professional community can also feel personal.

My sincere thanks to the State Bar of Nevada and the Insurance and Health Law Section for generously sponsoring my registration.

Grateful to be featured in the Member Spotlight of the May/June issue of Health Law Connections.

It was especially meaningful to appear in the same issue as AHLA President Mark Kopson, who has been a mentor throughout my health law journey.

The cover story happens to be on managed care, an area I have been deep in this year at Zumpano Patricios, P.A., including dispute resolution. Coincidence, but a good one.

I answered every question the same way I practice law: with candor and conviction. The photo is from Eid al-Fitr this year. Fusion dress, East meets West. That’s me.

Thank you to American Health Law Association for the feature.

I am honored to step into the role of Partner-in-Charge of the Las Vegas office of Zumpano Patricios, P.A. (Zumpano Patricios & Helsten).

I made the move for two reasons.

First, the firm maintains a mature managed care litigation platform. Zumpano Patricios represents hospitals, health systems, and healthcare providers in managed care litigation, pursuing payments owed for contractual breaches, statutory violations, and related causes of action. The firm has recovered several hundred million dollars for its clients.

Second, I was drawn to how the firm practices law. There is passion, vision, and loyalty, with advocacy understood as a personal and shared responsibility rather than a transaction. Those are values I share.

My practice has focused on front-end compliance, structure, and transactions for healthcare practitioners and entities. Increasingly, that work requires attorneys who can remain engaged when payors do not perform or when agreement terms are disregarded.

Zumpano Patricios’ managed care litigation platform makes that continuity possible, allowing counsel to stand with healthcare institutions as matters move from structure and compliance to enforcement.

I am grateful for the road behind me and focused on building this capability for healthcare institutions across Nevada. Cheers!
