Data Centers Drive Innovation in Land Use for Builders
There's a new twist impacting the housing market that’s catching a lot of folks by surprise—even in places as dynamic as Las Vegas. The rapid expansion of AI data centers is driving up land prices, making it tougher for home builders to compete for prime spots. Data centers are able to pay much more per acre than residential developers, which is pushing homebuilders out of key markets and adding pressure to the already challenging US housing crisis. While the public is starting to voice concerns, there aren’t any direct policies in place yet to address this shift. As someone who’s watched the Las Vegas market evolve through every high and low, I can say this is another reminder of how quickly the landscape can change—and why local insight matters when finding the right home or investment here in the valley.
