Animal Advocates of. Northern NM is happy to share with everyone that Mora County has established their own advocate/rescue group called Animal Lovers de Mora Advocates (ALMA).
A few months ago Sheriff Americk Padilla reached out to us with questions on animal welfare because he wanted to make positive changes for the animals in Mora County. Sheriff Padilla had already began purchasing animal supplies to rescue, was working with their county attorney on ordinances, and submitted for an Animal Control position. He knew the process would take time but wanted to start making change as soon as possible. We immediately offered our support and input, and also connected him with AWC and provided him with names of other groups/rescues. We got him connected with Donna Karr from Spay Taos, who has already jumped in and helped spay/neuter many animals from Mora County free of charge. We stressed to Sheriff Padilla the importance of building a team, networking, and collaborating with other groups and they have listened and done all the above.
We are happy for Mora County and thankful for everyone who has joined ALMA to make a difference. Animal Advocates will stand by ALMA and continue to offer our support in any way we can ❤️🐶🐱
