Update : 7 year old Child who was ejected has passed away. Preliminary investigation reveals that the child was not wearing a seat belt according to the Laredo Police Department.

LAREDO, TX – Emergency crews are on the scene of a serious single vehicle accident that occurred Wednesday afternoon beneath the overpass on Chihuahua Street, heading toward South Zapata Highway.

According to Laredo Police, a child was ejected during the crash and has sustained critical injuries. All southbound lanes on US-83 have been shut down as first responders work the scene.

Drivers are urged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes. Traffic delays are expected as the investigation continues.
