Hosting a horse show, rodeo, clinic, or competition can bring people together on your farm. It can also bring liability concerns.

Pennsylvania’s Agritourism Activity Protection Act may offer important protections for qualifying farm-based equine events.

But protection is not automatic.

Required warning signs, participant agreements, and compliant ticket language can all matter. The law also has important exceptions. Our latest blog explains how the Act may apply to Pennsylvania horse farms hosting public events.

Read the full article on our website. Then contact Aevitas Law to discuss practical planning for your equine operation.

Aevitas Law had the chance to connect with our community at the Aaron’s Acres Resource Fair this past weekend.

We appreciated the meaningful conversations with local families, professionals, and community partners.

For many families, estate planning includes planning for a child or grandchild with special needs. A special needs trust can help provide added support without unintentionally disrupting eligibility for certain public benefits.

Each family’s circumstances are unique. Thoughtful special needs planning can help protect resources, preserve flexibility, and support long-term care goals.

If your estate plan should include a child or grandchild with special needs, contact an Aevitas Law attorney to start a conversation.

A while back, I walked away from a horse related business venture because it wasn't working. Some of the people involved filed a frivolous lawsuit against me which they ultimately had to withdraw. It seems that today this is how people express their emotions.

Attorney Nate McCormack got it all straightened out. He is a very smart lawyer with a very efficient style of practice. He is also a very interesting horseman. As a young man he worked summers as a Renaissance Fair Jouster and continues occasionally today. Yes, Nate is one of the two jousting riders who rush at each other with long lances and try to knock each other off their horses. He's a lawyer who owns horses and rides.

In this litigious world we live in, people as helpful as Nate has been for me are rare. I highly recommend him. I spoke to a few local lawyers and they didn't want to take my case saying they were unfamiliar with livestock related law. Save this post. You might need it and share it to help other horse and farm owners.

A well-intended inheritance can create unintended challenges for a beneficiary. A Special Needs Trust can provide supplemental resources for needs beyond benefit coverage, while helping protect eligibility. The right trustee and trust structure can make a meaningful difference over time.

Contact Aevitas Law to discuss how special needs planning may support your family’s future.

Is your Pennsylvania charity required to register for a BCO ID?
If your organization solicits donations from Pennsylvania residents, the answer is likely yes. State law requires most charities to register with the Bureau of Corporations and Charitable Organizations before fundraising.

Many nonprofits assume they’re exempt. But thresholds and exemptions are specific. Missing registration can trigger late fees or suspension of solicitation rights.

Aevitas Law helps Pennsylvania charities and organizations confirm whether they need to register. We also guide you through compliance and renewal timelines.

When the farm is your family’s legacy, “who gets what” is only the beginning of the conversation.

Farm succession planning in Pennsylvania must balance the land, the business, and every branch of the family tree. It touches operating entities, tax exposure, long‑term care, and the roles of both farming and non‑farming heirs.

Our latest Aevitas Law blog post explores how a tailored succession plan can protect the farm’s future while giving the senior generation financial security and peace of mind.

If your family is starting to talk about the next generation, now is the time to learn what a comprehensive plan can do for your farm. Read the full article on our website and consider how a customized strategy could support your legacy.
