We hold regular webinars to help educate people on elder law so they're better equipped to to deal with the complexities of end-of-life planning.

Here's the recording of a webinar we held last year to help you understand how to choose an agent for a Power of Attorney and why it's so important.

Did you know that it was President Lyndon B. Johnson who started Medicaid when he signed the Social Security Amendments of 1965 into law on July 30, 1965?

He established it as a health insurance program for low-income individuals and families as part of his Great Society initiative.

This Black History Month, we are reminded that access to legal protection, dignity at the end of life, and the right to have one’s wishes respected have not always been equally available to all. The ongoing work of equity and inclusion matters—especially in areas like healthcare, elder advocacy, and estate planning, where trust and protection are essential.

We recognize and celebrate the individuals who have fought for civil rights, expanded access to healthcare and legal protections, and paved the way for a more just future. This month is an opportunity to recommit ourselves to serving every client with respect, compassion, and integrity.

In our upcoming webinar, we’ll walk through:
• Warning signs that a family dispute is escalating
• Your legal options when conflict arises
• How to protect a parent without tearing your family apart
• What steps you can take right now

Since it’s the New Year, we’d like to welcome all new followers to this Page and re-introduce Rocky Mountain Elder Law’s founder, Kate Silburn.

With a law degree from Columbia University and a Master of Divinity from Harvard, Kate is uniquely equipped to guide families through some of life’s most difficult moments. Her work spans estate planning, estate administration, probate litigation, guardianships, and conservatorships—but her approach goes far beyond documents and courtrooms.

Before practicing law, Kate served as a hospice chaplain and later as Executive Director of Denver Hospice’s Life Quality Institute. She has sat at bedsides, supported families through loss, and seen firsthand what happens when legal and medical protections are not in place. That experience shapes everything she does today as an advocate for older adults and vulnerable individuals.
