This is another fascinating alternative to burial and cremation. I’m interested to see whether recomposition will become legal in Washington. The novel approach, known as “recomposition,” involves placing bodies in a vessel and hastening their decomposition into a nutrient-dense soil that can then be returned to families. The aim is a less expensive way of dealing with human remains that is better for the environment than burial, which can leach chemicals into the ground, or cremation, which releases earth-warming carbon dioxide.

Washington residents "are very excited about the prospect of becoming a tree or having a different alternative,” state Sen. Jamie Pedersen said.

I often hear parents claim they don't need a will because they don't have a lot of assets. A will is so much more than a method of distributing property! In my mind, creating a will is the single most important thing you can do to make sure your children are cared for by the people you would choose if anything should happen to you.

As a parent, I completely understand the chaos that ensues once you have children! It is easy to put off drafting a will, advance directive, power of attorney, etc. That's why I offer free initial consultations. Come chat with me about your situation, and we can find a cost-effective yet personalized plan for your family. I promise to make it worth your time!

Insurance policies that combine long-term-care coverage with a potential life-insurance benefit are called “hybrids,” and they are reshaping the long-term-care niche of the U.S. insurance industry just as it had appeared headed for obsolescence.
