Gateway 2040 LLC wants to rebuild the sidewalks at all four corners of International Drive and Sand Lake Road — think decorative walkways, public art, fountains, and better lighting, working alongside the elevated pedestrian bridge the county's already approved.

Safety is the big driver here — this intersection has racked up hundreds of crashes and pedestrian injuries over the past several years.

Downtown Orlando just got the green light on a new $30 million project called The Canopy — turning empty space under I-4 into a real public gathering spot with green space, market stalls, string lighting, almost 300 parking spaces, and a rideshare pickup area.
