Hi All please be aware of flying domestically and ICE activity....while under the law having an asylum or adjustment of status application pending is supposed to protect you from being arrested - it is called having a lawful stay - you do not have a lawful STATUS. If you do have a lawful STATUS be sure to carry your status document with you at all times. These arrests are occurring despite lack of criminal or terrorist suspicions.

Over the past few days, AILA members have reported an increase in clients being detained by DHS at U.S. airports during domestic travel. This is occurring across the country, including in California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Kansas, Michigan, New Jersey, Texas, and Virginia. Impacted individuals include those whose lawful status has expired but may have timely filed adjustment of status applications or asylum applications which would allow them to be in a period of authorized stay. Reports include individuals being detained who do not have criminal records and who have valid work authorization or advance parole documents.

Lawyers tackling the Trump Administration DACA delays for folks who have been in DACA status since 2012 and onward.

DACA recipients are pushing to get answers about the government’s delays in approving DACA renewals, which have led recipients to lose work permits and their jobs.

The Trump Administration continues to deport asylees or those who may qualify for asylum-like relief in the US - to terrible countries these people have no relation to. This country is one that is so dangerous that the U.S. State Department states on its website, “do not travel for any reason.”

The women are among nearly two dozen people slated to be sent to a country where the U.S. government has advised “Do not travel for any reason.”

Congress passed the Secure America Act on June 9, 2026, using the reconciliation process to fund U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and parts of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), subagencies within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The bill gives ICE and CBP a total of $69.5 billion dollars until September 30, 2029, which includes almost an entire fiscal year of the next president’s first term following the 2028 election. This funding adds to the $170 billion dollars that DHS received last summer in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA), which also lasts through September 30, 2029.

With the passage of the Secure America Act, Congress has now provided nearly a quarter of a trillion dollars to DHS through the budget reconciliation process in less than a year, nearly all of which has been focused on immigration enforcement. ICE will receive $38.5 billion—nearly four times its annual FY 2025 budget. Most of this funding is allocated towards hiring new ICE officers and carrying out immigration enforcement functions, including transporting noncitizens between detention centers and for deportations, as well as other mission support functions for ICE’s deportation operations.

The bill includes a substantial focus on enforcement against states and localities that do not participate in federal immigration enforcement. For example, it specifically allocates $350 million for ICE enforcement operations in cities and states that do not participate

While ICE and CBP’s budgets usually go through the regular government funding process, that process broke down earlier this year. Democrats demanded reforms to immigration enforcement policies and practices. However, those efforts failed, and as of the passage of the Secure America Act, ICE and CBP have still not received funding through the normal appropriations process.

Instead, Republicans used the reconciliation process to fund these agencies. The Secure America Act passed by a 52-47 largely party line vote in the Senate with one Republican senator joining all Democratic and Independent senators to vote against the bill. In the House, the vote was 214-212, mostly along party lines as well.

This is an absolute nightmare, makes no economic or logistical sense and is NOT any more safe than what the current process is. This could likely bankrupt USCIS and essentially chill/halt thousands of foreign people in process of getting their green card in the US. Its unconstitutional for performing retroactively, violating due process and the APA but someone on the dark side knows that focusing on discretion makes it more difficult to sue....

Foreigners seeking to adjust their immigration status in the United States to secure green cards will ​have to do so from outside the country via ‌the State Department, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services said on Friday, in a move criticized by aid groups.
