Acts of Terrorism causing students in Louisiana to be expelled.

Friends,

I have received multiple reports of young male students facing charges of terrorism for making jokes at school.

- Under Louisiana law a 17 year old will be tried as an adult.
- All schools have a zero tolerance policy regarding any real or perceived threats of violence.
- In addition to expulsion a student can face the threat of a felony conviction with imprisonment, loss of educational and economic opportunities all which have long term life altering impacts.

Parents remind your children to be mindful of their words and actions and the people who may misinterpret a joke as a legitimate threat. As an adult the student has a right to ask that an attorney be be present before giving a statement to any school or law enforcement.

If you or someone you know is facing criminal charges call us today. We will defend your rights and fight for your future. 337-788-1505

If you notice someone who is impaired and planning to drive, there are several things you can do to help: 1. Offer Assistance: Approach the person calmly and offer your help. Let them know that you are concerned for their safety and the safety of others on the road. 2. Provide Alternatives: Suggest alternative transportation options such as calling a taxi, using a rideshare service like Uber or Lyft, or arranging for a sober friend or family member to pick them up. 3. Offer to Call for Help: If the person is unable or unwilling to find an alternative, offer to call a taxi or rideshare service on their behalf. Provide them with the necessary information and make the arrangements for them. 4. Find a Sober Driver: If you are in a group setting, try to find a sober driver among your friends or acquaintances who can take them home safely. Offer to arrange the transportation or accompany them if needed. 5. Stay with Them: If the person insists on driving despite your efforts, consider staying with them until they sober up or find a safe way home. This will help ensure their well-being and prevent them from putting themselves and others at risk. 6. Involve Others: If the situation becomes challenging and the person refuses to cooperate, involve other responsible individuals such as the host of the event, security personnel, or law enforcement if necessary. Their intervention might be necessary to prevent the impaired person from driving. Remember, the goal is to prevent the impaired person from getting behind the wheel and potentially causing harm. It's important to approach the situation with empathy, firmness, and a focus on their safety as well as the safety of others on the road.
