We need good judges in Hays County that follow the law.

Historically, we have demonstrated a passion for checking the integrity of our public officials. A sitting district court judge who commits crimes to influence an election is the type of situation that draws our attention.

Texas State University deserves better. Hays County deserves better.

A candidate running against the judge accused him of emailing his students at Texas State to vote for him. State law prohibits using public resources for political advertising.

How Hispanic Heritage Week became Hispanic Heritage Month:

On September 17, 1968, Congress authorized and requested the president to issue annual proclamations declaring September 15 and 16 to mark the beginning of National Hispanic Heritage Week. President Lyndon B. Johnson issued the first Hispanic Heritage Week presidential proclamation the same day.

In 1988, Congress passed and President Ronald Reagan signed into law a resolution establishing National Hispanic Heritage Month. On September 14, 1989, President George H.W. Bush became the first president to declare the 31 day period from September 15 to October 15 as National Hispanic Heritage Month.
