Thinking back to when my wife and I got to see the USS Constitution in dry dock at the Charlestown Navy Yard in Charlestown, Massachusetts and got to sign our names to the Copper Sheathing. Tennessee continues to lead the nation in nuclear energy growth, and today we’ve taken the next step in preparation for the state’s first commercial fusion project at Tennessee Valley Authority's Bull Run Energy Complex in Anderson County. Fusion is a clean, safe, and virtually limitless energy source, producing no carbon emissions and only minimal waste.

“The announcement today supercharges Tennessee’s reputation as the global hub for nuclear innovation,” said TDEC Commissioner David Salyers. “This application lays the groundwork for subsequent submissions and is a byproduct of the collaboration between fusion energy companies like Type One Energy and TDEC in establishing a first-of-its-kind state regulatory framework for fusion energy in Tennessee.”

This partial quote is from the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s 1968 sermon, The Drum Major Instinct, given on February 4, 1968 at Ebenezer Baptist Church, in Atlanta, Georgia. In this sermon he emphasized that true greatness isn't about fame or status, but about selfless service. Dr. King talked about how we all want to lead the parade, but he emphasized that true greatness is accessible to everyone through love and compassion.
