🚗April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month🚗

Distracted driving is a growing danger on U.S. roadways, claiming 3,275 lives and causing nearly 325,000 injuries in 2023 alone. Texting behind the wheel is the most hazardous distraction, but any activity that takes your focus off driving puts lives at risk.

What You Can Do:
- Put your phone away while driving or activate “Do Not Disturb” mode.
- If you need to text, pull over to a safe location first.
- Assign a passenger as the “designated texter.”
- Speak up if someone is driving distracted—your voice can save lives.

Remember: Texting while driving is illegal in 49 states and U.S. territories. From April 10-14, law enforcement is increasing efforts to prevent distracted driving.

Let’s work together to make our roads safer. Take the pledge to drive distraction-free today and share this message to spread awareness.

NHTSA’s Put the Phone Away or Pay campaign reminds drivers of the deadly dangers and the legal consequences including fines of texting behind the wheel.

Fatal traffic accidents are 34% more likely during "precipitation events" and 27% more likely even in light rain. The lesson -- don't underestimate the risk that even just a drizzle can create while driving.

Take this as your periodic reminder to slow down in the rain and snow.
