Today we extend our deepest gratitude to Senator Ronnie Sabb for pushing forward the proclamation honoring the 500th Anniversary of the first documented 100 enslaved Africans brought through Winyah Bay in Georgetown County, South Carolina. This acknowledgment is more than a moment in history — it is a recognition of the lives, labor, resilience, and enduring legacy of the African descendants who helped shape South Carolina and this nation.

We also sincerely thank Senator Tameka Devine and Senator Darrell Jackson for standing in acknowledgment of our shared history and for honoring the voices and experiences of descendants of enslaved Africans across the state of South Carolina.

For generations, these stories were overlooked and underrepresented. Today’s recognition helps ensure that the history of Winyah Bay, Georgetown County, and the Gullah Geechee people continues to be preserved, respected, and taught for future generations.

We honor our ancestors. We honor the truth. And we honor those willing to stand for historical recognition, remembrance, and cultural preservation.

For Women's History Month, our law firm was greatly excited to have had the opportunity to speak to the mentees of the DREM STARS Girls Mentorship Program and present them with a donation to assist them with their mission and purpose.
