Kingston High School is proud to spotlight one of its own - Eli B. Basch, a member of the Class of 1966 and a lifelong Kingston Tiger.
🏈During his time at Kingston High, Eli was deeply involved in athletics, competing in both football and track. Those early experiences helped shape the discipline, resilience, and teamwork that would define his life and career.
👨🏻⚖️After graduation, Eli went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree from SUNY Albany in 1970. That same year, he answered the call to serve his country, joining the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He served from 1970 to 1976, including active duty from 1970 to 1972. Reflecting on that chapter of his life, Eli shares, “I am grateful to have served our country and received the GI Bill, which provided me with the opportunity to attend law school.” Following his military service, Eli pursued his legal education at Western New England School of Law, earning his Juris Doctor in 1976. He returned home to Kingston, where he would go on to build a remarkable career serving the very community that helped shape him.
🙌🏼A proud Kingston native, Eli Basch has spent more than four decades advocating for injured people and their families throughout the Hudson Valley. His work has spanned a wide range of cases, including car and tractor-trailer accidents, construction incidents, medical negligence, and other serious personal injury matters. Over the course of his career, he has achieved more than 250 trial verdicts and over 10,000 settlements - representing more injury victims in trials than any other personal injury attorney in the history of Ulster County.
🏡Eli’s dedication and excellence have earned him widespread recognition. He has been named a Super Lawyer of Upstate New York and has been included among the Top 100 Trial Lawyers in New York State since 2007. Beyond his legal practice, he has contributed his time and expertise to public service, including serving on the Governor’s Screening Committee for Judicial Appointments and the Committee on Professional Standards in the Third Judicial Department. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Eli has remained firmly rooted in Kingston. He lives just a short distance from his office and continues to give back through community involvement, including his work with the New Paltz College Council where he serves as chair, Congregation Emanuel of the Hudson Valley, and Friends of Historic District as a tour guide in the Rondout where he grew up and Stockade District where his practice is located.
🐯From the football field at Kingston High School to the courtroom and the community he calls home, Eli Basch exemplifies what it means to be a Kingston Tiger - dedicated, resilient, and committed.
