Every closing tells a story far greater than the sale of a home. It represents memories, love, sacrifice, family, transition, and the moments that shaped the lives lived inside those walls.
Recently, I had the honor of helping Tanya Jones sell the home she and her husband James shared for over 40 years. A home where they loved deeply, raised their children, and built a beautiful life together.
After James transitioned, Tanya made the decision to move back home and begin a new chapter while carrying the love and memories they built together for decades.
Tanya is not only special to our family, she was the very first Secretary of Cierra Sisters Foundation, the non-profit organization started by my late mother Bridgette Hempstead, an original Cierra Sister, and one of my mother’s best friends.
Before closing, I had the opportunity to sit with Tanya and hear her and James’ love story and baby… let me tell you, it was one for the books. The kind of love that reminds you what commitment, friendship, and partnership truly look like.
Tanya, thank you for trusting me to walk through this chapter with you and handle it with care, compassion, and dignity. We are going to miss you here in Washington. I know my Mom and James are together in heaven smiling and having the best conversations.
Mom, thank you for bringing amazing people like Tanya and James Jones into our lives. They’re real ones. No agenda. Just love.
