REALTOR® Julie T***s faced an impossible decision: Should her 28-year-old daughter Katie with terminal breast cancer spend her last days at home or at a hospital? Since Katie was a nurse, they decided to go to the hospital where she had worked. Julie’s family didn’t feel it provided the comfort they needed, so they made a pact to create a better alternative. Since Katie’s passing in 2021, Julie has been working with her community to build a $1.5 million endowment to create Katie’s Comfort House, which will offer six private bedrooms, a fully stocked kitchen, and kid-friendly activities. Family members can sleep over, access a patio for fresh air, and find solace as they say goodbye to their loved ones. “Katie was powerful,” Julie says. “Remembering that and seeing how our community has jumped in to help this thing come to life—it keeps me going.” Learn more: http://ow.ly/vuOh50MqgJp
