John Burnett
John Burnett is a lifelong native of Jackson County, MO. The eldest of ten siblings, John and his family lived a modest lifestyle just two blocks from the Downtown Kansas City Courthouse. At a young age, he was taught the importance of participation in the political process. Following his 18th birthday, John served in Vietnam where he earned the Vietnam Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. Upon his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, he earned his degree from the University of Missouri, Kansas City School of Law. He has been practicing law in the courts of the Kansas City area since 1978. His law practice has included three appearances in the Supreme Court of Missouri. John is a strong supporter of unions. He is a product of Kansas City's public schools, and an active parishioner at St. Anthony's Catholic Church where he attends mass.
